Hillcrest
Update

Happy New Year! I hope that your Christmas holiday
was a blessing, with time for rest, celebration, and praise
to the Lord for the gift of Immanuel, "God with us."
Students are back in the full swing of things, with a new
semester of coursework and school activities. Some of
them have new courses that were not offered in the fall,
like Speech, Ceramics, Computer Programming, Astronomy,
Psychology and Multi-Media. Most students are taking a
different Bible course than in the first semester. I
expect that they will adapt easily to their second semester
schedule by the end of this week. The HLA Board of
Directors meets next week to begin their second year in
directing the Hillcrest Academy school program. One of
the most important items for discussion will be whether we
have the necessary funding in place to confidently begin our
multi-purpose building project this spring. If you
have not yet made a pledge or contribution to this project,
or are now in a position to to give in addition to
commitments already made, this is an excellent time to
encourage this project along with your financial help.
We are praying for an outpouring of gifts in the next two
months to keep us on our timetable of beginning construction
this spring. December was an excellent month, with
over $50,000 in gifts. Every dollar received brings us
closer to goal we've been planning and praying for.
Your gift will make a difference! What will God do through
the lives of students at Hillcrest in this new year of 2004?
Plans are in place for a Guatemala mission trip for students
in grades 7-12 over Easter break. Seniors are
considering a focused week of mission/ministry off-site in
May before their graduation. Pray for these
opportunities, as God prepares our students for a life of
service as representatives of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Have a blessed week!
