Hillcrest
Update
Principal Steve Brue
October 15,
2003This Friday is the end of the first
quarter. Students are handing in papers and studying
for unit tests. I regard this time as opportunity for
reflection by students and teachers, with goal- setting for
the next quarter and remainder of the year. Homecoming has
come and gone. We were blessed with an excellent
weekend for parents and alumni to join in on the planned
festivities. We had parent guests from coast to coast,
and even overseas, on our campus. We were also able to
reach a project goal of over $6,000 toward a matching
program sponsored by Thrivant for Lutherans. With
their gift, we are pleased to add over $12,000 to the
building campaign. Our extra-curricular activities are
ending their fall season. We now begin the playoff
season. Last night the boys soccer team upset the #1
seeded team in the conference, East Grand Forks, with a 2-1
victory. They play again this Thursday against St.
Cloud Cathedral in St. Cloud. The volleyball and
football regulars season concludes this week, with playoff
action to follow. Our HLA Today newsletter and HLA
website will provide detailed sports coverage for those who
are interested in keeping up on this. Work continues daily
on the new parking lot on our campus. We anticipate
the project completed by the end of October. Thanks to
all of you who are sending monetary gifts for these exciting
campus improvements.
Just a reminder, we will not have school this Friday,
October 17th. Monday begins the second quarter.
It looks to be a quiet weekend around the campus, after a
very full 9 weeks... time to catch our breaths.
Psalm 46:10 - "Be still and know that I am God; I will be
exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."
Have a blessed week. |
