Hillcrest
Update
Principal Steve Brue
February, 2005
Hillcrest now begins its fifth week of the second semester.
Student honor roll has been announced. The faculty has
selected the academic honor students for the Class of 2005.
Mid-term assessments are being prepared for all students, as
the year moves steadily on. Clearly, the mission of the
school is impacting students in positive ways. The
discipling of students by their Christian instructors, as
well as the opportunities for students to get involved in
mission, provides a strong case for Christian education. It
is our privilege to provide an environment that will make a
difference for eternity.
As Mr. Isaac handles more
of the day to day school operations, I now focus more on
alerting our extended school community to the financial
needs of the school. December proved to be an excellent
month, as cash contributions totaled over $160,000 for
operational and capital needs.
We will need another $200,000
for our Annual Fund by our fiscal year end, which is June
30, 2005. In addition, cash needed to finish paying the
bills for Phase 1 of the Student Activities Center
construction project is about $500,000. Bids have been
awarded to have the Center ready for use by graduation.
This means that the interior will be painted, and acoustical
ceilings hung, but there will be no wood floor or bleachers
installed. Those items, along with the elevator unit, add
another $300,000 to the cost of the project.
You really need to step inside
the building to see how far it has come, and envision the
blessing it will be for the Hillcrest student body. We’ll
keep asking more people to contribute to this excellent
improvement to the campus. Pray for generous and joyful
giving, so work can continue right on schedule throughout
this spring. We’ve come this far, let’s finish the work.
Thank you for your financial and prayer support for
Hillcrest Lutheran Academy.
And my God will meet all your needs
according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
