2003We are into the fourth week of the new
school year, and students are doing very well! I have
received positive comments from teachers, deans, students
and staff members that the year is off to a great start. A
4-week progress report will be prepared and mailed out to
parents of enrolled students by the end of next week.
This assessment gives parents and students a time to reflect
on how academic progress is going early in the school year
to encourage continued effort (or to start making an
effort!). The end of the first 9 week marking period
is October 17th. Hopefully, any adjustments that need
to be made now will have a positive effect by the end of the
quarter. Plans are also in place for our Homecoming/Parent
Weekend on October 2-5. There will be a Parent-Teacher
Fellowship on Saturday morning of that weekend.
Parents will meet the instructors of their child as they go
through a very condensed school day schedule. The
Hillcrest Board of Directors gathers on the HLA campus this
Thursday evening for their 4th board meeting of the calendar
year. The meetings conclude on Saturday morning.
The rain today is an answer to many prayers. In an
earlier Dean Staff meeting this morning, we were reminded of
many of God's gifts to our lives, even when we experience
some drought in our own lives. But hear this good
news, "Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail. They are new every
morning; great is your faithfulness." (Lamentations 3:22,23)
