Activities Director

Job Summary

The Activities Director oversees and carries out all athletic, campus ministry, and co-curricular spiritual programs and manages the athletic facilities. The position strives to provide activity programs that help students grow in a God-honoring way.


Position Requirements

  • Reflect the purpose of the school; honoring Christ in your interaction with students, parents, and employees

  • Unify the student body under Christ; build community among the student body

  • Oversee the school activities calendar(Tandem) and reviews requests for approval/denial

  • Plan and enter athletics, campus ministry, and spiritual activities on the school activities calendar (Tandem) and athletics on the conference calendar (rCalendar)

  • Responsible for use, maintenance, and cleanliness of athletic facilities and the auditorium (as needed); conduct monthly inspection of grounds and facilities to insure safe and conducive environment

  • Schedule athletic competitions under the rules of MSHSL

  • Oversee the development of the annual school theme

  • Communicate activities related transportation needs to the AD Assistant

  • Secure appropriate off-campus facilities when no availability at the school

  • Communicate and assist the AD Assistant with officials documentation and payments, home game staffing needs, and concessions

  • Coordinate MOD responsibilities at athletic events; work with school administration

  • Plan and secure speakers for the campus ministry program

  • Recruit, screen, interview and recommend applicants for coaching to the Head of School

  • Supervise and ensure guest speakers, Athletic Coaches, cheerleading sponsors, and activities volunteers maintain a Christian testimony; meet with them on a regular basis, individually and collectively

  • Observe and evaluate the coaching performance and athletic performance of each team, each season

  • Oversee the selection process for student chaplain

  • Administer progressive disciplinary steps as defined in the Employee Handbook

  • Confirm Athletic Participation Form, Sports Physical Form, and other documents are completed by all athletes; submit needed documents to MSHSL

  • Oversee the worship teams; interviews, tryouts, mentoring, practice schedule, ministry

  • Assist and ensure regular coach and team devotions are conducted and meaningful

  • Coordinate with coaches and instructors to facilitate Comet Camp activities

  • Maintain and distribute the Coaches Handbook

  • Maintain knowledge of current activities administration and/or coaching principles and philosophies

  • Make recommendations for the annual athletic and campus ministry department budgets

  • Ensure all uniforms and equipment meet required safety standards; communicate with the Finance Office any ordering needs for equipment, uniforms, and supplies

  • Contact local media for coverage of activities, events and statistics

  • Plan and oversee the Hillcrest Invitational Tournament (HIT)

  • Participate in the Hillcrest Booster Club

  • Oversee the condition of each worship team member’s and athlete’s academic condition; enforce the eligibility list

  • Responsible for coordinating and attending Athletic Banquets

  • Coordinate and lead seasonal parent meetings explaining the athletic program

  • Prepare and submit a quarterly board report to the Head of School

  • Follow Matthew 18 principles regarding questions, concerns, or problems

  • Perform other related and non-related tasks as assigned

  • Able to manage necessary software and database

 Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Coaching and administrative experience is preferred

  • First Aid and CPR certificate is preferred

  • Previous experience with audio/visual equipment is preferred

  • Previous experience with Google Apps and Microsoft Office is preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Walking, standing, and sitting throughout the day

  • Able to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally

  • Able to move safely over various terrain, between buildings, up/down stairs
