Hillcrest School Profile
The mission of Hillcrest Lutheran Academy is to equip students in a Christ-centered Bible-based environment for a life of eternal significance.
Established in 1916, Hillcrest serves local, domestic, and international students through classical Christian education, and has over 100 years of experience training students to live lives of eternal significance. Hillcrest offers Preschool-12th grade schooling, as well as resident housing for 10-12th grade students. Our program strives to build a Christian foundation through learning and growing as believers in Christ.
Our school programs integrate the Bible into every discipline, academic and extra-curricular. This means students learn to live life with Jesus, being challenged to engage every aspect from a Biblical foundation.
The classical Christian method inspires learning by utilizing the trivium’s three phases of learning (Grammar, Logic & Rhetoric) where students are uniquely trained at their stage of development. Classical education seeks to engage the students minds and train them to think for themselves. Our teachers inspire students to investigate, contemplate, debate and pursue knowledge, encouraging our students to have a lifelong love of learning.

Hillcrest Culture
The Hillcrest culture is a warm, welcoming environment that produces a strong appreciation for Godly friendships and respect for others. Both Hillcrest campuses (Upper & Lower School) have a positive atmosphere that reflect the subtle, but powerful, understanding that every person is made in the image of God. This truth brings out the best in our students and provides them with an outstanding community in which to learn and grow.
Hillcrest facilitates interpersonal development with Jesus Christ in a small school atmosphere, providing an environment that promotes positive opportunities to receive instruction and build relationships around a Biblically-based classroom experience.
Also as a boarding school for 10-12th graders, Hillcrest receives a regular infusion of new students, providing a fresh and vibrant dynamic each year. Established community and classroom expectations provide an excellent context for students to study and learn. All of this, plus an intentional school program with mentoring at its core, provides a Biblical context to develop healthy friendships with peers and adults.
