Comets Unite in Dominant Win to Start Homecoming at Hillcrest

 

In an impressive display of teamwork and unity, the Hillcrest volleyball team shut down Clinton Graceville Beardsley to start Homecoming Week. With scores of 25-16, 25-13, and 25-17, the Comets gave fans a lot to cheer about and made the night memorable.

The Comets showed how they’re unifying, playing together as a cohesive unit. What's truly heartening to see is how the seasoned players are embracing their younger teammates. Head Coach Debi Foss noted, “Together we played. Together, we won. We did a good job again tonight of staying on task and working together to put the ball down on the other side.”

It was notable how the Comets were unifying, with seasoned varsity players celebrating the successes of their younger teammates. Foss noted this post-game. “I appreciate how our more experienced players are embracing the younger players more and more. The little things in team culture can have a big impact…on and off the court.”

The Comets carried an impressive stat line in the victory. Anna Brumfield, a force to be reckoned with, delivered one ace, seven kills, and 12 digs. Emily Adams showed agility and versatility around the net, with eight kills, 2 set assists, four digs, and four block kills. Chloe Walkup's three digs were essential to the defensive effort.

Additionally, Maddie Miller contributed four crucial digs. Kaia Miller's ace serve added a spark to the team's momentum. Ella Knutson showcased her skills with one ace, eight kills, one set assist, four digs, and two block kills. Ruby Peterson, a hinge for the team’s success, dished out 25 set assists, one kill, and 13 digs. Kenzie Miller proved her mettle with six kills, one set assist, one dig, and four block kills. Elsa Retzlaf added one ace, three kills, and seven digs to the mix.

Homecoming week is off to an excellent start with this win from the Comets. Their next match is set for Thursday against Parkers Prairie. This will be the featured homecoming game for the Comets, where they’ll welcome back past players to celebrate the legacy of Comet volleyball.
