Comet Girls’ Basketball Closes Season of Historic Triumphs with Relentless Spirit

In a season that will undoubtedly go down in history, the Hillcrest Academy Girls Basketball team faced off against the sharp-shooting Underwood Rockets in a nail-biting match that pushed both teams to their limits. Despite the Comets' leading at halftime with a score of 34-29, Underwood staged a dramatic comeback in the Section 6A quarterfinals, winning 76-66, sending Hillcrest home with a heavy heart. The team's outstanding performance throughout the season is nothing short of extraordinary, a testament to their unwavering spirit, relentless pursuit of excellence, and promise of a burgeoning powerhouse in the region.

The Comets’ performance throughout the season was nothing short of remarkable. Under the guidance of Head Coach Hannah Clark, the Comets secured a school record 21 wins and defied all expectations. Despite their heartbreaking defeat, Coach Clark expressed immense pride in her team's tenacity, citing their execution of the game plan on both ends of the court and their never-say-die attitude.

Top performers in the game included Ella Knutson, Ruby Peterson, and Kate Olstad. Knutson led the scoring with 24 points, earning Hillcrest's all-time leading scorer accolades, with a career total of 1,243 points and counting for the Sophomore standout. Peterson's all-around excellence was on full display, contributing a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Olstad, praised by Coach Clark for her best game of the year, added 14 points and 8 rebounds, showcasing her growth and confidence on the court.
