Comets Continue to Impress with Latest Win Against Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley
Comet volleyball earned a stunning September 26 win, sweeping Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley in a thrilling conference match. From the opening serve to the final point, the Comets controlled the game, taking all three sets with scores of 25-15, 25-21, and 25-18. Head coach Debi Foss couldn't hide her pride as she reflected on the game, describing it as a match filled with intense rallies, tight plays, and an impressive amount of digs.
“I’m proud of our team effort again tonight and the determination we showed,” Coach Foss noted. “Individual efforts are essential, but it is the collective push that propels a team to victory.”
The Comets' offensive onslaught was led by Emily Adams, who delivered 8 kills and 13 digs, playing a critical role on both sides of the ball. Her precision serving was on full display as she went 16/16, including an ace. Ruby Peterson’s outstanding playmaking was vital to the team’s rhythm, as she recorded 39 set assists and 11 digs. On top of that, she was perfect from the service line, going 10/10 with 2 aces. With just 125 more sets, Peterson is approaching a significant career milestone of 2,000 set assists.
Ella Knutson brought energy and precision to the court, racking up 9 kills and digging out 10 balls, keeping plays alive. Elsa Retzlaff was an all-around powerhouse with 10 kills, 17 digs, and 3 aces. The Miller sisters, Kaia and Kenzie, added to the scoring tally with 7 and 8 kills respectively, providing a relentless attack at the net. In the back row, Chloe Walkup and Maddie Miller were the defensive anchors. Walkup recorded 10 digs and served a flawless 9/9, while Maddie Miller's quick reflexes led her to 11 digs and an ace serve.
In total, the Comets put together an impressive 75 team kills, showcasing their well-rounded offensive capabilities and a relentless defensive effort.
Looking ahead, the Comets return to their home court for a regular season match against Pelican Rapids on Tuesday.
