Hillcrest Choir Exercises Faith and Brings Truth to Nation in Choir Tour
There is something sacred about voices rising in harmony within the walls of a church. The notes do more than resonate; they reveal. At Hillcrest Lutheran Academy, choir tours are more than educational experiences; they are transformational journeys and involve joining Jesus on His mission to awaken hearts and strengthen the Church across the nation.
Hillcrest’s choir journeyed through South Dakota, Nebraska, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona this year, performing seven concerts in ten days. These were not performances for the sake of applause. They were sacred moments of worship, hosted in small churches where faithful believers gathered weekly, year after year, to proclaim the name of Jesus.
The orchestrated music scores, rich with Scripture and theological truths, leapt to life in each sanctuary. Young people, singing in unison and with discipline, gave voice to the profound spiritual truths they are learning in their daily lives at Hillcrest. These truths were not only sung, they were lived, as students embodied the unity, reverence, and purpose that come from walking with Christ. And in the echo of their harmonies, local believers were reminded that the Church is alive, and her future is vibrant and devoted.
The tradition of choral music rooted in the Church is profoundly beautiful. These scores, often crafted with the words of the Psalms, hymns of the early Church, and poetic renderings of Scripture, were designed not just to be heard but to be experienced. When sung by Hillcrest students whose lives are being formed by the truth they sing, the music becomes a testimony, an offering that moves from voice to heart to action.
Church members in each location were stirred as they watched the next generation proclaim the Gospel; not through preaching, but through music that carried eternal words. The choir tour became a living expression of Romans 10:17, “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” These concerts weren’t staged performances; they were mission moments. And in these moments, Jesus was glorified.
The tour also invited students to have an immersive experience at the local church. They met pastors, worship leaders, and host families faithfully serving their communities. They witnessed how Jesus is being lifted in churches of different sizes and styles. They joined in worship rhythms that reflected the beautiful diversity of the body of Christ, learning that the mission of Jesus is not bound to one place, one age group, or one expression.
For Hillcrest students, the choir tour is where education meets transformation. It’s where the music they rehearse in the classroom becomes the message they deliver to the world. They don’t just sing about hope and grace; they share, carry, and extend it through every note.
For the churches they visit, these young voices remind them that God is not finished with His people. The Spirit is moving. The message is alive. And through the voices of Hillcrest students, truth is once again leaping from the church into the community, carrying with it the hope and grace we all have in Jesus Christ.
The power of choir tours? It’s the power of the Gospel, sung by a generation being trained to sing and serve. Not just to harmonize, but to follow the voice of their Shepherd together, on mission.
