Instructor
Job Summary
The Instructor shall prayerfully help students learn attitudes, skills and subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible Christians. The position demonstrates enthusiasm and advocacy for Hillcrest in all interactions; and plans a program of study that utilizes classical instruction techniques.
Position Requirements
Reflect the purpose of the school; honoring Christ in every class and in every activity
Motivate students to accept God's gift of salvation and help them grow in their faith
Cooperate with the administration in implementing all policies, procedures and directives governing the operation of the school
Teach classes as assigned; integrate biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and activities
Keep proper discipline in the classroom and on the school premises
Maintain a clean, attractive, well-ordered classroom
Plan a program of study that utilizes classical instruction techniques
Recognize the need for good public relations; represent the school in a favorable and professional manner to the school's constituency and the public
Demonstrate enthusiasm and advocacy for Hillcrest in all interactions
Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents and staff by treating others with friendliness, dignity and consideration; communicate student progress effectively
Follow the Matthew 18 principles regarding questions, concerns, or problems or when dealing with conflict with students, parents, staff and administration
Maintain a teachable attitude
Attend and participate in scheduled meetings, trainings, and/or gatherings
Know the procedures for dealing with issues of an emergency nature
Maintain professional appearance and interact cooperatively with others
Supervise extracurricular activities, organizations and outings, as assigned
Utilize educational opportunities and evaluation processes for professional growth
Support the broader program of the school by attending extracurricular activities
Place his/her teaching ministry ahead of other jobs or volunteer activities
Perform other related and non-related tasks as assigned
Personal Qualities
Have received Jesus Christ as his/her personal Savior
Be in whole-hearted agreement with the school's Statement of Faith and Christian philosophy of education
Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech and actions toward others; including being committed to God's Biblical standards for sexual conduct (Luke 6:40)
Be a member in good standing at a local church that has a Statement of Faith in agreement with the school's Statement of Faith
Believe that the Bible is God's Word and standard for faith and daily living
Recognize the role of parents as primarily responsible before God for their children's education and be prepared to assist them in that task
Skills and Abilities
Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills with strong constituency building skill; able to interact with students and families from various backgrounds
Have spiritual maturity, academic ability and personal leadership qualities
Work without daily oversight
Confident, enthusiastic, and capable
Able to manage necessary software and database
Use acceptable English in written and oral communication; speak with clear articulation
Demonstrate the character qualities of enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, integrity, gratitude, kindness, self-control, perseverance and punctuality
Respectfully submit and be loyal to constituted authority
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree, certified or certifiable
Previous experience with Google Apps and Microsoft Office is preferred
Physical Requirements
Walking, standing, and sitting throughout the day
Able to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally
Able to move safely over various terrain, between buildings, up/down stairs
Salary and Benefits
Salary Range: $30,000 - $40,000 annual salary, school-year position
Benefits: Eligible for full-time benefits package
