Comet Volleyball Makes Quick Work in Season Opener

The Lady Comets wasted no time making a statement in their season opener, dominating Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal with a swift 3-0 victory (25-8, 25-9, 25-11) on Tuesday night. Picking up right where they left off last year, the Comets are on a mission to prove that they are stronger than ever and poised to make a serious run at the state tournament this season.

“Our team's excitement to be back in the gym, fueled by the energy of the ‘Black Out Crowd,’ was incredible,” said head coach Debi Foss. “We’re so grateful for the support of our fantastic game crew, our amazing facility, and the talents of our players both on and off the court.”

The Comets’ serving game was a standout, with McKenzie Miller and Ella Knutson leading the charge. Kenzie delivered a powerful 15-point run in the third set and finished the night with an impressive 26-for-27 serving, including 5 aces and 24 serving points. Ella was equally effective, going 10-for-12 with 6 aces and a strong run in the first set.

At the net, Emily Adams led the team with 8 kills, while Knutson and Miller each contributed 6 kills. Elsa Retzlaff and Kaia Miller added 5 and 4 kills, respectively. Ruby Peterson orchestrated the attack with 24 set assists and chipped in 5 digs, while Chloe Walkup and Maddie Miller each recorded 3 digs.

“I’m especially grateful for the opportunity to work with the amazing girls in our high school program,” added Coach Foss. “Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in everything, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus!”

With such a commanding performance to start the season, the Lady Comets are clearly building momentum and setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting and successful year.
