Dr. Kathy Koch Returns to Hillcrest Academy: Guiding Our Community to a Christ-Centered Identity

We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Kathy Koch will return to Hillcrest Academy from October 13-15. Dr. Kathy, a renowned speaker, author, and expert in child development and discipleship, will conduct specialized training with our support staff and engage directly with parents and students. Her visit promises to be a powerful time of equipping our community to navigate the challenges of today's world with a Christ-centered identity.

Training for Support Staff: Strengthening Discipleship and Child Development

During her time with our support staff, Dr. Kathy will focus on enhancing their understanding and skills in discipleship and child development. Her approach, rooted in a biblical worldview, emphasizes the importance of guiding children academically, spiritually, and emotionally. Dr. Kathy's training will empower our staff to be even more effective in mentoring students as they grow in their faith, develop healthy relationships, and build solid identities on Jesus Christ.

Speaking to Parents and Students: Unmasking Tech Lies and Building Identity

Dr. Kathy will also speak to our community, focusing on parents and students, in an evening session on Monday, October 14. She will discuss how we can guide and encourage students to build solid identities in Jesus Christ and how that identity can be expressed through different intelligences. This teaching will help parents and students connect as she teaches how other people see the world through what she calls different smarts. It will be a powerful presentation for our community.

On Monday and Tuesday afternoons, Dr. Katy will speak to students about the pervasive tech lies that can distort our understanding of self and purpose. Dr. Kathy's insights are invaluable in a world increasingly dominated by digital influence. She will address the common myths propagated by technology and social media—such as the idea that worth is tied to online validation or that identity is fluid and self-determined. Instead, she will guide us toward a Christ-centered understanding of identity rooted in the truth of Scripture.

Her sessions will expose these lies and provide practical tools for parents and students to cultivate a healthy, biblically grounded identity. Students will learn how to anchor their self-worth in Christ, resist the pressures of comparison, and passionately live out their God-given purpose.

A Legacy of Impact: Dr. Kathy's Previous Visit

Dr. Kathy's visit last year left a lasting impression on our students. Many raved about her message on building and forming identity. Her ability to connect with students on such a personal level has helped many of them begin to see themselves through the lens of their Creator rather than the distorted mirror of societal expectations.

Her message resonates deeply with Hillcrest Academy's mission. By focusing on identity formation in Christ, Dr. Kathy provides a foundation for students to build a life of purpose, passion, and unwavering conviction. This upcoming visit is anticipated with great excitement as students, parents, and staff look forward to being further equipped to live out their faith in a confusing world.
